Scholarship Overview

The Next Swell was created in part for the purpose of providing financial academic scholarships to exceptional students pursuing research and/or a degree in a marine science or marine conservation focused area.

We will be awarding multiple scholarships of $5,000 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Scholarships are merit-based and will be awarded to the most qualified applicants who display a passion for marine conservation.

Scholarship Information / Eligibility Requirements

The Next Swell Application will be open from 15 January 2025 and close 15 March 2025 (EST), with awards being granted by 1 May 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. All applicants must be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident

  2. All applicants must be pursuing a graduate degree (Master’s or PhD).

    • All applicants must be able to provide proof of attendance (i.e., academic transcript). If a student will be entering their first semester of graduate school in Fall 2025, proof of acceptance will be required.

  3. All graduate applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

  4. All scholarship funds must be used for tuition, fees, or course books and supplies that are required for enrollment at your educational institution
